National Water Commission — Driving Water Reform
The National Water Commission is responsible for helping to drive national water reform and advising the Minister for Climate Change and Water and State and Territory governments on water issues. The Commission is also responsible for managing the implementation of the National Water Initiative - the blueprint for national water reform - and for implementing, under the $2 billion Australian Government Water Fund - the Raising National Water Standards programme.
Release of Australia’s national water performance reports

Two National Performance Reports on the performance of the water industry for 2006-07 were released today at the Australian Water Summit by the Chair of the National Water Commission, Ken Matthews and the CEO of the Water Services Association of Australia, Ross Young.

The way ahead for water planning in Australia

Australia's National Water Commissioners met in Brisbane last week to discuss progress on water planning across the nation and agreed that no Australian jurisdiction can yet claim to have a fully effective water planning system.
Chair of the National Water Commission, Ken Matthews, said "Effective water planning is fundamental to the National Water Initiative and is the best way for determining how we share valuable water resources among competing uses."
