Assessing the value of groundwater
About the project
The project will develop an economic valuation framework to value groundwater. This will inform decisions about efficient investment in resource management. The framework will be developed following a review of existing information and consultation with groundwater managers from each jurisdiction. This framework will also be applied to case studies which will comprise a variety of groundwater uses.
Commenced: April 2011
Completion: May 2012
Project benefits
This project will develop a standard methodology on how the value of groundwater should be determined and how to allocate resources. This will ensure that each aspect of management effort is appropriate and comparable with the economic value and level of risk.
