Water restrictions and storage
About this resource
The national Water Storage information product, funded by the Commission under its $10million Australian Water Resources Information System project and developed by the Bureau of Meteorology, presents the first national view of the state of Australia's water storages. This provides free online access to water storage levels for more than 250 sites across Australia, representing over 90% of the capacity of publicly owned water storages in Australia. Up to 200 more storages will be added to the system over the next year.
The information available here shows aggregated information at capital city, state, drainage division and national scales. Individual storage levels and information on extra cities and irrigation systems are available on the Water Storage site.
Please note that in order to provide consistent data, the Bureau standardises the data received. This means the water levels, volumes and percentages published may differ from the values published elsewhere.
