Water requirements of wetland and floodplain plants

About the project

This sub-project, funded under the $641,000 Water Dependent Ecosystems Discussion Starters Part 1 project, will revise the technical report Water Regime of Wetland and Floodplain Plants in the Murray-Darling Basin: A Source Book of Ecological Knowledge by Jane Roberts et al. (the Source Book).  The Source Book is a summary of water regime information for native plants of lowland riverine systems within the Murray Darling Basin.  It synthesises the sparse and dispersed information on water regimes for wetland and floodplain plants as a resource for people involved in ecological aspects of river flow and wetland management.

The project is being undertaken by the Source Book author, Dr Jane Roberts, Ecologist: Floodplains, Wetlands and Rivers.

Commenced: 1 March 2008
Completion:  1 November 2010

Project benefits

The key output from this project was the updated source book of water regime information for native plants of lowland riverine systems, aimed at river and wetland managers within the Murray Darling Basin. This Source book is part of a series of papers commissioned on issues relating to Australian aquatic ecosystems.
