About the project
Funding has been provided to improve education materials for groundwater professionals. The money will enable the Australian Groundwater School to complete the process of consolidating, updating and presenting course notes and resources for use in future Groundwater School courses.
The Groundwater School is a reputable provider of short bridging courses for people working in the water sector. Schools are run twice a year (one each for eastern and western states) and attract more than 150 water professionals annually. These new materials will establish a consistent foundation of fundamental groundwater education across all Australian states and territories.
Project benefits
The results of the project will be production of a sufficient quantity of course notes and PowerPoint presentations, reflecting the most up-to-date groundwater science and knowledge, to cover five years of Australian Groundwater Schools from 2008 onwards.
The project will advance the National Water Initiative by improving the technical knowledge and skills which are foundation requirements for addressing over-allocated groundwater systems, encouraging groundwater management to consider environmental water requirements and supporting groundwater knowledge and capacity building at regional levels.
