About the project
This project will fund a series of projects and activities designed to encourage the practical adoption of knowledge or tools developed under the Commission's RNWS Program.
The Commission directs funds towards high-priority activities to advance the National Water Initiative (NWI) and improve integrated water management and knowledge through the RNWS Program. To date, $208m has been invested in a wide range of projects, where consistency or compatibility is required across jurisdictions and where outcomes will be improved by undertaking activities on a national basis. These projects have helped develop best practices and have delivered decision making tools, benchmarks, national guidelines and frameworks.
The Commission also invests in activities that have the capacity to overcome barriers to the implementation of the NWI. These projects lead to the creation of new knowledge or new means of sharing or organising information.
The central objective of the knowledge adoption project is to ensure that water reform is advanced through the adoption of RNWS funded products. This is about more than just making tools or products available; the focus here is on the uptake of those products by water managers to improve evidence-based policy decisions and best-practice water management.
Project benefits
The Commission's ability to effectively transfer knowledge depends on being able to cultivate relationships with knowledge adopters and to provide credible, appropriate and timely quality information.
This project will provide tools to link and synthesise projects. It will also allow the Commission to develop and encourage communities of practice, and to arrange events that promote knowledge sharing, information exchange and networking.
