About the project

The primary objective of the Australian Water Markets Report is to inform market participants about market structure, trading activity, prices and key policy drivers.

The project aimed to do so by delivering consolidated, annual, nation-wide resources providing information on Australia's water markets.

The Commission continues to support the introduction and improvement of legislative and administrative arrangements to encourage the development and greater efficiency of water markets in Australia. Providing this type of information to both direct and indirect participants in the market is an important step in improving market performance.

Project benefits

The reports and data resource produced through this project provide the most comprehensive nationally consolidated and publicly available water market information. By tracking developments in the Australian water market and improving market efficiency through improved information, the project has supported the implementation of the National Water Initiative's water markets and trading outcomes.
