About the project

This project will implement the national benchmarking framework and build capacity of regional and rural water utilities to report on the national performance indicators, proceeding in two stages. First, in consultation with NWI Parties and industry, a deed will be developed to set out how the parties to the NWI will report on the performance of regional and rural water utilities in accordance with the NWI. Second, capacity building activities targeted at better participation of the smaller utilities in the national benchmarking framework will be identified and funded.

Project benefits

To realise the full potential of national performance indicator reporting, it is important to maximise the coverage of the national benchmarking framework and the proportion of indicators reported. However, some water delivery agencies have limited capacity to report on a number of the proposed national performance indicators. This project is aimed at improving capacity within the regional and rural water utilities to participate in the national benchmarking framework and provide accurate, verifiable performance information on an annual basis. This will contribute to the timely and effective implementation of the national benchmarking framework.
