About the project

This project will review key documents, including aspects of the Australian Drinking Water Guidelines, and develop an information package, including materials such as diagrams, maps, and tables, that assists with preparing usable and understandable drinking water management plans. The information package will then be trialled in a number of remote Indigenous communities.

A steering committee, including representatives from Indigenous organisations, state and territory governments, and other organisations will be formed to help ensure the project delivers an up-to-date and practical information package and to ensure that learning from the project is available Australia-wide.

Project benefits

This project will provide Indigenous communities, governments, and service providers with an information package to help them work together to develop useable and understandable drinking water management plans. Use of the information package will increase involvement of Indigenous community members in water planning and management.
