About the project

The project will investigate the potential of smart metering technology to provide benefits for the irrigation industry based on field monitoring studies. The project will develop simple analysis software for the innovative smart metering technology to apply to situations where irrigation water is managed manually or with simple controllers to improve on-farm water use information and efficiency.

Project benefits

The project aims to identify the factors that will assist in the uptake of smart metering technology by irrigators. It will undertake several field trials that engage irrigators in the use of the technology across different regions of the country.
