2009 biennial assessment of implementation of the National Water Initiative
Submissions
The Commission's public submission process for the 2009 biennial assessment of progress under the National Water Initiative has closed. As at 16 March 2009, 45 submissions had been received. The Commission is reviewing these submissions for possible incorporation into the assessment. The Commission is also reviewing submissions from NWI parties on their progress in water reform. The Commission will consult further with NWI parties over the coming months as the drafting process progresses.
The purpose of the assessment is to report to the Council of Australian Governments (COAG) on progress with implementation of the NWI, and to advise COAG on matters to better realise the objectives and outcomes of the NWI. A Commission discussion paper, available for download below, was provided as a guide to the process of making a public submission.
